The Adventure:
A hidden jewel in the Nantahala National Forest near scenic Lake Santeetlah.  Although probably quite popular, I didn't find a crowd when I travelled here in early April.
A huge plus if you're not looking for a big hike.  This beautiful fall is only a third of a mile off the road and offers plenty of spots along the river to sit and enjoy the rolling cascades.
Type:
Out and Back
Distance:
A little over a half a mile round trip, it's uphill towards the falls, but the overall elevation gain is negligible.
Parking:
Okay so you have to pay attention to your surroundings since cell phone reception is spotty.  If you travel North on Highway 129, you're riding along the Cheoah River.  After passing Outland Gas & Groceries get ready to look out for a swinging bridge on your left that crosses the river.  From there the pulloff on the right is 2 miles from you.  Look for a wooden sign just before you enter the woods.
Gear:
A bathing suit and towel.
Don't Forget:
Short hikes encourage crowds...plan accordingly.
My Take:
This is a great addition to a day of play in the Robbinsville/Lake Santeetlah area.  HINT: you're near Tail of the Dragon if you have the appropriate vehicle.
